The science lab is going to have everything imaginable, from state-of-the-art video and computer equipment to extensive space for lab work. It will even have thorough safety precautions like an emergency shower just in case chemicals need to be quickly removed from a person’s skin. The project was expected to be completed sometime in November, yet it is May and for anyone who looks into the room it is obvious that there are still some things that are needed to make the lab ready to use and teach in. Just when will this massive project be completed?
In an interview with Head of School Stephen Allen, he said the only real reason for the delay of the completion of the lab was permits to build from the city of Thousand Oaks. This is a pretty lengthy process that takes a large amount of time, especially when the building is involved with science. Despite this obstacle, the science lab took a huge step in the right direction two weeks with the installation of the cabinets. This was a huge step in the right direction in the finishing of the lab, and the completion date is set tentatively in mid to late May. This is good news in the formation of the lab, as many parents and even students have helped to bring the lab to this point.
(UPDATE: The new lab is open. The pictures included were taken at the first dissection in our beautiful new lab.)
