At Hillcrest Christian School, there is a grass field development in progress. Over the past year and a half, HCS was getting permission to remove the oak trees, so we HCS could begin building by the portables. After HCS got permission to remove the trees, an HCS parent donated workers, bulldozers, and other supplies, to start the grading process last August and September. The next thing scheduled is to irrigate (provide the water) for the field. After that, HCS will start to fence in the area. Finally, after that is completed, they’ll start to landscape the plants and trees. Once all of that is set, HCS, with the help of the $16,000 (eventually $20,000) combined donations (from the wall of 16,000 little squares in front of the school), will begin to lay the grass that was approved by the city.
HCS has great plans ahead, (including stairs on both sides of the field), and will continue to strive towards finishing this goal as quickly as possible. With the completion of the grass field, the HCS community can look forward to many events to come (the HCS carnival, P.E. classes, etc.).
