Profile on Our Athletic Director, Mr. Gutierrez
Get to know HCS Athletic Director and Vice Principal, Andrew Gutierrez

Andrew Gutierrez attended Cal State Northridge for four years. He graduated in either 2001 or 2002, he wasn’t sure. Andrew has been and athletic director for Hillcrest Christian School for four years now. The reason he is an Athletic Director is because he says ,”I enjoy sports, that is why I am an Athletic Director.”

Despite Hillcrest having a week sports program, Andrew believes that part of the reason is the coaches. If we were given money to raise experience in our sports, Mr. Gutierrez says that he would send coaches and players to camps over off season to get better at the sport they enjoy. To Andrew, Sportsmanship is the most needed part of an athletic program. Sportsmanship is an easy way to express Hillcrest as a school for many needed things of Christianity.

There are few schools in our district that compete against us. The main private school in our area is Oaks Christian High School. This schools athletic program is amazing. Andrew hopes to have a sports program to be as good as theirs one day.

Andrew is a coach for Hillcrest as well as an athletic director. Many people wonder if Andrew would want to be just a coach. He said that if he wanted to be a coach, then he would be one instead of his normal job. Andrew coaches two different sports at Hillcrest. His fall coaching job is Girls Basketball. He brought them to one of there best records in Hillcrest history along with Mr. Windle the assistant coach. For his spring coaching job, he coaches boys volleyball. They strived for the best and came close to play offs.

Andrew doesn’t want to compare himself to other Athletic Directors but he believes that he has helped Hillcrest the most in their sports career. To help Hillcrest grow, he believes that the best thing for the program would be to get a gym. This gym may take a while but in the end it will help Hillcrest unbelievably.
